Summary:
Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Demonstrates a mastery of skills and tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical / imaging equipment. Provides education/training to BMET I and IIs and others including clinical staff related to the technical integration of the device / system. This will be based at Barberton but will be required to travel to Wadsworth/Medina/Green/White Pond and occasionally help with other Summa locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education Required:
-Associate degree in electronics / biomedical equipment technology or military equivalent training.
Experience & Training Required:
-Five (5) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of biomedical/imaging equipment.
-Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) preferred.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
-Knowledge of practices and procedures, methods, tools, test equipment, and materials used in the use, repair, and maintenance of general and specialty biomedical / imaging equipment.
-Demonstrates competency to use or learn computer applications to include (but not limited to); PACS, RIS, e-mail systems, word processing, spreadsheets and CMMS systems.
-Demonstrates competency related to the use of service and repair manuals including understanding of operating instruction, service diagrams, flow charts and schematics.
-Demonstrates competency related to oral and written communications and utilizes these skills in a professional and respectful manner.
-Working knowledge of information technology / networking.
-Possesses basic understanding and skills related to general electronics, electro-mechanical systems and devices.
-Basic understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
-Basic understanding of project management terms and methods.
-Ability to travel to and from various locations in the region.
-Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Level of Physical Demands:
-Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
-Hazards: Possible hazards include exposure to electrical shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and various other hazards associated with biomedical engineering work.
