The Jackson Laboratory is Hiring an Associate planner Near Bar Harbor, ME

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking an Associate Course and Conference Planner to join our team in Bar Harbor, Maine!

The Associate Course and Conference Planner is expected to work with the established Planning Team members to assist with planning, organizing and managing administrative support activities for scientific courses, workshops, symposia and other educational program events as needed.

This position requires interaction with internal and external scientific faculty, grant agencies, internal and external attendees, internal facilities staff, grants office staff and external vendors ensuring that all participation goals and educational program plans are delivered effectively and at a very high standard.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • To assist the Planning Team with providing planning and onsite operational support for JAX courses, workshops and conferences.
  • Schedule, and track scientific organizing committees and Course and Workshop participants as required in order to plan, budget, produce and administer programs.
  • Assist with the development, editing and ordering of marketing collateral materials associated with educational programs.
  • Learning to use, and utilizing, computer software and platforms, including Cvent, Sitecore and Wrike, to support the planning of courses, to organize course data, and to edit educational program webpages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum requirements are a high school degree. (B.S. / B.A.) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite : Ability to edit, format, and manage documents efficiently and familiarity with advanced features (mail merge, track changes, using spreadsheets for data entry, analysis, and reporting).
  • A demonstrated ability to be a strong team player, as well as an ability to work independently, as appropriate.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to help plan, schedule, and successfully execute projects to successful conclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that will enable the individual to work in a high-profile environment and to effectively deal with a wide variety of people and personalities requiring discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy;

astute judgment to recognize limits of responsibility and direct issues beyond level of responsibility to appropriate personnel. Discretion required.

Travel may be required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Education Required : High School Diploma or GED

Education Preferred : Bachelor's Degree

Experience Required : None Required

Pay Range : $18.22 - $28.93 per hour
