1st YEAR APPRENTICE LINEMAN
Education
Must be capable of reading, performing basic mathematical functions and written communications.
Experience
One year minimum experience with electrical work in the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems and substation to include troubleshooting and load balancing.
Job Knowledge
Should be familiar with Rural Electric Construction Specifications. Should be familiar with the safety rules and regulations in accordance with First Electric Cooperative Corporation, State Labor Department, and OSHA.
Abilities and Skills
Must have the ability to comprehend the responsibilities of a Journeyman Lineman and continue to hone acquired skills. Must be capable of performing the essential functions associated with the 1st Year Apprentice Lineman classification.
Should have the ability to operate digger and aerial lift trucks, backhoe, trenchers and any other tools or equipment used on the job.
Working Conditions
Primarily outside job, subject to work on weekends, at night and during severe storm conditions if requested by supervisor.
This position is subject to residency requirements for on-call and response purposes.

Should have a good basic knowledge of electricity and its terminology and be familiar with circuits and electric distribution layouts.
Should be familiar with Rural Electric Construction Specifications. Should have the ability to troubleshoot problems on electric lines.

Must be capable of performing the essential functions associated with the 4th Year Apprentice Lineman classification. Must have the ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees and the general public.
Must possess a current Class A Commercial Drivers license (CDL). Must have the ability to operate a computer and / or an electronic tablet.
Must have the ability to operate applicable computer programs / software. This is a safety sensitive position where the employee holding this position has the responsibility for his / her own safety or other people's safety.
