Wesley Lea Hill is Hiring an Aquatics & Fitness Instructor Near Auburn, WA

  • Retirement planning is encouraged through our 403(b) plan that includes a generous 100% company match on the first 4% of earnings an employee contributes. There is a 5-year vesting schedule on the company match, and minors are ineligible for the company match.

Enrich thelives of older adults through community, choice, and continuing care in the AquaticsTrainer role. The Aquatics Trainer is responsible for creating, growingparticipation, and delivering group and individual aquatics exercise activitieswithin a retirement community. Additional health and fitness sessions(therapeutic, recreational, athletic) may be facilitated to maintain a robustoffering of activities. The Aquatics Trainer also maintains pool and workoutequipment in working order, ensures clean and sanitary exercise areas, andutilizes technology to document participants’ participation, condition andprogress.  You willprovide continuing care through these responsibilities

Essentialfunctions of this position include the following.

  • Teach and promote aquatics fitness classes such as water aerobics,aqua Zumba and water safety.
  • Teach and promote health and fitness activities to residents froma variety of living settings (independent living, catered living, memory care,and more).
  • Develop program offerings that are age-appropriate, safe, andeffective in meeting the physical needs of aging adults.
  • Provide instruction on the correct use of technique and equipment.
  • Assess and document participants’ abilities, needs, condition, andprogress.
  • Ensures that Health and Safety standards, rules, and regulationsare enforced.
  • Perform basic pool and equipment maintenance and ensure clean andsanitary exercise areas.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Our requirements and qualifications for success

  • Aquatics certification required (i.e. Water Safety Instructor(WSI), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) Certification, American Council onExercise (ACE) Aquatic Exercise Certification, etc.).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Background in Gerontology, Physical Education, Health Education orrelated field preferred.
  • Post-secondary certification required (i.e. Geriatric Health andFitness certificate, certification as a Stay Active & Independent for Life(SAIL) instructor, certification as a Cognitive Stimulation Instructor, etc.).
  • Certification and/or membership with the American Council onExercise (ACE), AAAI/ISMA, American Sports and Fitness Association, IDEA, NASM,etc.
  • Active Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent communicationskills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, cloud-based software and mobileapp technology.
  • Knowledge of instruction and learning strategies.
  • Passion for engaging with aging adults.
  • Advanced knowledge of health and fitness for aging adults.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in leading aquatic fitness classes foraging adults.

Physical,environmental, and mental requirements

  • Extreme flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with yourbody, arms, and/or legs.
  • Strong stamina to exert yourself physically over long periodswithout being winded or out of breath.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionallyassist or aide class participants.
  • Exposure to indoor, environmentally controlled aquatic area.
  • Ability to maintain constant contact and close proximity toparticipants.

SalaryRange: $27.96 to $40.29 per hour
