Job DescriptionGIS TechnicianPosition Overview: The GIS Technician is responsible for input, processing, and maintenance of Southern Gas (a Southern Company) lines and equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Engineering, Resource Mapping, Computer Science, or a related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- GIS internship or 1-2 years of GIS experience.
- 2 years experience with ESRI suite of products.
- Natural Gas and/or Power and/or Utilities industry knowledge/experience is a plus.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS or ESRI ArcGIS Pro software.
- Competency with standard computer software such as Microsoft Office suite.
- Capable of working in a team environment.
- Experience with CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) is a plus.
- Flexible to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, in an office environment in Atlanta, Georgia. Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours per day, starting as early as 7am and ending as late as 5pm
- Flexible to work remotely / from home. Remote work requires stable broadband Internet connection of 20mb/s or capable of supporting remote desktop connections over VPN and is responsibility of worker
- Note: Once the ~3 month training period is completed in Atlanta, GA (depending on the individual), work may become mostly remote, with occasional work, meetings, training, etc., in the office. No per diem available for onsite training, meetings, and work. Must live within commuting distance to office in Atlanta, GA.
