Job Description
1 year of minimum SPT experience required
BLS - Required
SPT certification required
- Decontamination and Cleaning: Collect and sort used and contaminated medical instruments and equipment. Manually clean these supplies to remove contaminants and operate decontamination equipment to ensure thorough cleaning.
- Sterilization: Prepare and pack cleaned supplies for sterilization. Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as autoclaves to sterilize instruments. Ensure that instruments are appropriately wrapped and labeled for the correct sterilization method.
- Inspection and Assembly: Carefully inspect instruments to verify they are properly cleaned and free of damage. Assemble sterilized instruments into sets required for specific medical and surgical procedures, and organize these sets into case carts for use in surgeries.
- Inventory Management: Maintain records of sterilization procedures and sterilized items. Manage inventory by reordering supplies, checking expiration dates, and ensuring that all necessary instruments are available for upcoming procedures.
- Documentation and Compliance: Keep detailed logs and documentation for sterilization equipment and instrument sets. Ensure compliance with current sterilization standards and protocols to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Regularly check sterilization equipment for proper functioning and troubleshoot minor issues. Report any significant problems to the appropriate personnel for repair.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operating room staff, including surgeons and nurses, to ensure that all required instruments and equipment are ready and available for surgical procedures. Act as a resource regarding sterilization processes and best practices.

Pay: $1,400.00 - $1,570.00 per week
