Star Valley Health is Hiring a Cardiac Cath Lab RN Near Alpine, WY

Department: Cath Lab

Supervisor: Cardiac Cath Manager

Location: Afton, WY

Employment Status: PRN

Compensation: Minimum $30.48 , commensurate with experience and certification.

Summary

While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position whose function it is to monitor the procedures in operating rooms during surgery. The circulator collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. This position is at will.

Job Duties

  • Perform initial assessment of patient’s medical status upon admission and complete required documentation
  • Ability to independently assess the patient’s physical and psychological needs comprehensively in the procedural setting, and effectively communicate patient changes, improvements, complications, and adverse reactions
  • Competent in assessing patient, hemodynamic monitoring and circulating supplies during cardiac procedures
  • Supports physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac patients, critically thinking and working as a team to create best patient outcomes
  • Safely assess allergies and administers oral and intravenous medication to patients 
  • Administers sedation medications and safely manages patients under sedation to watch for adverse reactions
  • Provides comprehensive safe patient hand off between pre-op and PACU
  • Understand and assess paperwork concerning patient consent forms, charting, lab results and intra-procedural documentation
  • Upholds technical skills that will be in compliance with regulatory bodies, infection control practices and all policies and procedures in place
  • Works cohesively in a team environment to accomplish the same goal
  • Exercises skilled judgement in applying professional knowledge with problem solving
  • Serves as a resource for additional staff needing training
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter pertaining to the Cardiac cath lab and beyond
  • Other duties as assigned. This is not a comprehensive list of all duties and is not intended to list all tasks and functions in this role.

Requirements

Abilities & Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, prioritizes work to meet the changing needs of the department 
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude to apply and modify the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to recommend solutions
  • Working knowledge of ancillary equipment within the Cath lab as well as confidently circulating and knowing where to find equipment and inventory
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, leadership and peers
  • Capable of making quick decisions
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergent situations 
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or higher 
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active and in good standing State of Wyoming Registered Nurse license
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
  • Two years nursing experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Computer literate, experience with EMR
