The University of New Mexico (UNM) has a full-time Systems/Network Analyst 2 (Database Administrator) opening on the Albuquerque Main Campus. The position will be part of the UNM IT Computing Platforms - Database Team. DBA team provides technical support in Banner ERP (architecture, installation, and upgrades), enterprise Oracle databases and Microsoft SQL Server databases, Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, SQL performance tuning, and other enterprise applications.
Primary responsibilities of this position include:
1. Install, configure, patch, monitor and manage enterprise Oracle and SQL Server databases.
2. Set up backups and perform recoveries for Oracle and SQL Server databases.
3. Install, upgrade, and apply patches to the Banner ERP applications and other third-party applications.
4. Setup, configure and manage Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server.
5. Work closely with IT Applications staff to implement and support software solutions.
6. Document and make recommendations for support and service delivery improvements.
7. Consult with departments across campus as requested on database questions.
8. Refresh test databases to facilitate user testing.
9. Work closely with Platforms and Applications staff to troubleshoot and help resolve problems.
10. Provide 24/7 on-call support (in rotation, 8~10 weeks per year).
The successful candidate will demonstrate skills and knowledge in some of the following – Oracle 19c database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux; SQL Server database on Windows; database backup, recovery, monitoring and diagnostics; and Banner ERP. This position requires on-call work and flexibility to work occasional overtime, nights and/or weekends.
