General Maintenance Worker Job Description
The General Maintenance position is responsible for providing a well-maintained, safe, clean and attractive historical property by performing general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
Painting interior and exterior of the building, guest rooms and public areas
Maintain cleanliness of hotel grounds
Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration, plumbing and mechanical systems
Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance
Be available evenings and weekends and able to handle emergency calls
Address guest concerns in timely and courteous manner
Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities, working closely with Housekeeping Department
Snow removal from walkways and public areas
Roof repairs and exterior window cleaning
Other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Experience:
Maintenance: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required)
Compensation Details:
Part-time position requiring at least 24 to 29 hours per week
