San Luis Valley Health is seeking an full-time Environmental Services Supervisor to join our team! This position is responsible for providing support to the EVS Manager and Director of Facilities in the day-to-day supervision of Custodians and Housekeepers, overseeing and directing the performance of daily tasks. In addition, the Supervisor will ensure all work is performed timely and according to organizational and regulatory standards.

This position will typically work Monday through Friday and occasionally work weekends and holidays. The Supervisor will also be responsible for on-call duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Prior leading/supervising others and cleaning experience, preferred.
  • Ability to perform the same tasks as Custodians and Housekeepers.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used for cleaning in healthcare setting. Experience in use of all equipment used in cleaning, including rotary buffers, high speed buffers, carpet extractors.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to interact effectively with immediate EVS staff as well as patients, visitors, and other hospital/clinic staff.
  • Basic computer skills including e-mail, and Microsoft Word and Excel.

What You'll Do:

  • Works with EVS Manager to trains all new EVS staff (custodians and Housekeepers) to perform all tasks as outlined in their job descriptions. Under guidance, coaches staff by recognizing good performance and counseling them where improvement is needed.
  • Makes sure employees keep utility, storage rooms and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Submits request for time off to E.S. Manager for approval and writes schedules that, as staffing allows, meets the needs of the staff and facility.
  • Makes daily rounds on all areas possible and ensures work is being performed to standards and that all areas are covered adequately. Inspects all dismissal rooms cleaned and ensure they are ready for next patients. In the event overtime is needed, seek approval from the Manager of EVS.
  • Carries pager as required and responds to staffing needs as demand or scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Meet regularly with management of all areas covered and solicit feedback on the work performed. Share positive comments with EVS. Mgr., staff and counsel in areas needing improvement. Work with the Manager of EVS in developing any disciplinary action required.
  • Meets regularly with staff (monthly meetings, huddles as required), ensuring they are current on their training needs and all pertinent information that should be shared throughout the facility. Update and assist with training of SDS Program.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good operating condition.
