POSITION: Shipping Clerk

REPORTS TO: Shipping and Logistics Manager

STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Associate II

UNION ELIGIBLE: Yes

WORK ARRANGEMENT: 100% Onsite, In-Office 5 Days/Week

LOCATION: Alameda, CA

SALARY RANGE: $21.15/hr-$29.00/hr

The primary responsibility of the Shipping Clerk is shipping and receiving, as well as material handling and forklift operator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift Driving Certificate
  • Drive forklift for at least one year, previous shipping experience preferred.
  • Good time management skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and respond to customer orders and provide customer service when required.
  • Create orders and receive goods and move materials in MRP/ERP system in accordance with associated orders and as assigned.
  • Prep all materials for shipping including but not limited to, stack/build pallets, prepping single cases, stretch wrapping materials, BOL creation, and other material prep duties as assigned.
  • Pack items securely to prevent damage during transit, following established packaging guidelines.
  • Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation for outgoing shipments. Keep records of all documentation.
  • Verify shipping orders and match them with the correct items and quantities. Stage full goods for pickup.
  • Process outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently, ensuring that orders are filled correctly and on time.
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries, and ensure that shipments are dispatched in a timely manner and inbound freight and material is reported to all required parties.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking information, delivery confirmations, and any discrepancies or issues encountered and ensure documentation is preserved.
  • Receive inventory items, check for discrepancies, follow receiving SOPs, and communicate any issues to management. Move accepted materials to designated areas within the warehouse.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in conducting regular cycle counts, communicating any shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Utilize forklift to load and unload trucks, move inventory around the warehouse, and stage materials. Assist with other forklift duties around the warehouse as assigned including daily forklift logs.
  • Make sure to drive safely, follow all forklift rules & regulations.
  • Learn and work in all systems associated with shipping including all shipping platforms and internal systems.
  • Follow all shipping and inventory SOPs as set by Shipping and Logistics Manager and Production Controller.
  • Take on tasks delegated from Shipping and Logistics Manager
  • Assist in full and raw goods areas within the warehouse, such as stretch wrapping materials, stacking materials, maintaining organization and FIFO, monitoring lot coding etc.
  • Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and free of hazards and assist in keeping warehouse free from potential hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with putting out Garbage & Recycle Bins for pick up.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Assist in production as needed, including backup machine operation.
  • Ability to occasionally perform computer work and operate standard office equipment.
  • Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires the ability to lift and carry 60lbs throughout the day and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Stand for long periods and climb up and down ladders
  • Prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching daily.
  • Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual, electrical and/or gasoline-powered equipment and machines.
  • Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as the work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment, year-round
  • Ability to safely and properly use tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites.
  • Willingness to work night and/or weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to independently travel to all LightHouse physical locations and events as needed.
