Golden Valley Electric Association : Who We Are

GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities.

What's your day like?

As a Wind Turbine Technician at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a crucial role in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and testing of our wind turbine sites.

Utilize your problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and repair turbines in the event of a fault or breakdown, ensuring optimal performance.

With the ability to work independently, you will be tasked with maintaining facilities at both the O&M building plant and the warm storage building receiving area in Ferry on both sides of the river.

This position offers a dynamic work environment where your contributions directly impact our renewable energy initiatives.

What we're looking for in a Wind Turbine Technician (I, II or III)

To excel as a Wind Turbine Technician at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent, along with technical training in the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plant systems, heavy equipment, and material handling systems.

Experience in a wind farm environment is essential, as is demonstrated proficiency in operating heavy equipment. A valid Alaska driver's license and first aid / CPR certification are required, with the ability to obtain ICC Medical Examiner's certification within six months of hire for commercial vehicle operation.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of experience performing operations and maintenance activities in an industrial facility, showcasing their technical skills and commitment to safety and excellence in the electric cooperative industry.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• Technical training in the operation and maintenance of coal-fired power plant systems

• Experience working in a wind farm environment.
• Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment.
• Valid Alaska driver's license required.
