JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified Protestant Religious Education Coordinator to provide a quality and comprehensive Protestant Religious Education (RE) program at Shaw AFB, SC. The Coordinator will work closely with the Protestant Chaplain to develop, implement, and manage RE programs for children and adults, ensuring a robust and engaging religious education experience.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Develop and track a 10-month calendar of RE events.
• Coordinate and provide annual retreats and camps.
• Organize and assist with religious programs including Sunday school, VBS, Youth meetings, and seasonal events.
• Perform administrative tasks such as preparing publicity material and managing curriculum and supplies.
• Ensure all volunteers/teachers have favorable background checks.
• Maintain professional standards and comply with Air Force policies and safety requirements.

SCHEDULE OF WORK

• 20 hours per week (Sunday through Saturday, including weekday office hours), not to exceed 1040 hours per year.
• Minimum of 2 hours during all Religious Education classes between 9:00am EST and 7:00pm EST on each RE Sunday.

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

• Shaw AFB, SC. Primary locations include the Spratt Education Center Building 501 and other buildings as determined by the Wing Chaplain.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

• One year, with specific dates to be determined in collaboration with the Protestant Chaplain.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in education or minimum of two years experience as a Director of Religious Education (DRE) or Religious Education Coordinator (REC).
• Active, practicing Protestant Christian with a pastoral reference.
• Knowledge of military protocol or willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal history background check.
• Proficiency in written and verbal English.
