GENERAL PROTECTIVE SERVICES UNIT:
This is professional social services work. Employees in this class provide case management services to children, youth and families to ensure the health and safety of each child in the family and to assist the family in attaining a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional or physical adjustment.
Employees perform a variety of social services and case management duties designed to provide supportive services to children, youth and families including:
Employees attend and participate in case reviews and supervisory conferences and are exposed to a variety of learning experiences, including on-the-job training programs, designed to develop professional and technical skills.
Employees participate in formal and informal county agency and state training programs which provide basic knowledge relative to agency purpose, services provided, client population characteristic, and applicable laws, methods, procedures, rules and regulations governing the operation of the agency necessary to perform social service and case management supportive services to children, youth and families.
Work is performed under the supervision of a professional social service or administrative supervisor and is reviewed through individual and group conferences, assignment of professional reading, attendance at training programs, and the reading of records and reports.
Employees learn about the network of available community resources by reviewing resource files, making site visits, and working with casework staff.
Employees receive instruction regarding the reason for and proper completion of applicable forms and paperwork.
Employees document activities and services using designated agency methods and procedures, including social service summaries, correspondence and reports.
Employees are assigned after-hours on-call on a rotating basis.
Employees perform related work as required.
Any other duties as assigned by the employee's immediate supervisor, Director and/or his/her designee.

Working in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary investigation team. Employees are assigned after-hours on-call on a rotating basis.

Schedule:
8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.
Experience:
One year of experience as County Caseworker 1; or one year of experience in public or private social work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social services.
