GENERAL DEFINITION:
This is delivery and motor vehicle operation work. A position in this class picks up and deposits mail, and delivers supplies and other items. A position in this class reports directly to an administrative supervisory position.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)
Delivers mail to and picks up mail from the post office and/or other County office buildings; sorts incoming mail according to established office bins; delivers sorted mail, carrying throughout various buildings to addressees; picks up outgoing and interoffice mail; readies outgoing mail by class, weight, size, etc.; sorts interoffice mail for subsequent delivery.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used in loading, securing and unloading materials.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records of activities.
Ability to lift, maneuver and support materials, supplies, sack of mail and similar items up to 80 pounds.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, if required by work assignment.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Education equivalent to completion of the tenth school grade.
Or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above.
