The FASNY Pre & Lower School seeks a dynamic and energetic full-time STEM educator who loves working with children and is eager to collaborate with other like-minded teachers. As part of a bilingual, dual language program, in an international school, our students take French and English classes every day. It is a full time position, with full benefits.

A STEM Elementary Teacher plays a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of young students by fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. 

This is a new position at FASNY and we anticipate that the job description will evolve. At this time it includes a range of responsibilities and will involve teaching hours in math and coding. 

In addition, and in collaboration with colleagues from the French and English departments at all grade levels, responsibilities will include::

Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support the overall development of students. Attend meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in STEM education.

Curriculum Development: Design and develop age-appropriate science and STEM curriculum aligned with educational standards, ensuring that lessons are engaging, relevant, and promote hands-on learning.

Lesson Planning: Create detailed lesson plans that Integrate real-world applications and experiments to make concepts tangible for young learners

Classroom Instruction: Facilitate engaging and interactive classroom sessions, which foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and inquiry.

Assessment and Feedback: Implement a variety of assessment strategies to evaluate student understanding and progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.

Use of Technology: Integrate technology tools and resources to enhance STEM education. Incorporate educational apps, interactive simulations, and other digital tools to supplement traditional teaching methods.

Extracurricular Activities: Organize and participate in STEM-related extracurricular activities, such as science fairs, clubs, or field trips. Encourage students to explore STEM topics beyond the regular curriculum.

Parent Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with parents regarding classroom activities, and upcoming events. Encourage parental involvement in supporting STEM education at home.

Safety Procedures: Implement and enforce safety protocols during science experiments and activities. Ensure that students are aware of and follow safety guidelines in the classroom.

Salary based on experience; expected range from 50,000 - 80,000

Qualifications

Full Time Position on the Elementary School Campus, Bachelor’s degree required
