OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Assembles by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools or operates equipment as necessary to produce or process products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Loads and unloads previously setup machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines, or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting, or light metal-cutting operation on assembly line

· Lays out reference points, fabricates, and assembles according to blueprints and engineering specifications

· Scribes cutting and bending lines on prefabricated parts and cuts, bends, and trims parts according to layout

· Uses hand files or portable grinders to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts

· Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together

· Installs and tests moving parts

· May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another to reduce fatigue factor

· May be part of a crew and assist skilled operators in performance of skilled function

· May work at bench as member of assembly group that processes or assembles one or two specific parts and passes unit to another worker

· May assist with shipping and receiving

· May repair units that fail to meet specifications

OTHER DUTIES 

· Performs all other duties as required

· Responsible for cleaning work area

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

· High School diploma or GED required
