**Psychiatric Setting or Clinical Research setting experiences a Plus!!!** Interested candidate must be well polished, articulate, and people oriented. Excellent customer service skills are mandatory.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Responsible for assisting with study enrollment. Provides information and education to participants. Responsible for answering study-related questions.
• The Research Phlebotomist, while being independent and successful at performing venipuncture and skin puncture on a wide range of patients, is also able to aide in the training of other Research Phlebotomists in all aspects of the Laboratory.
• All Phlebotomists are responsible for an interpersonal relationship with the patient who they are meant to collect blood samples from. It’s the duty of a phlebotomist to make patients feel relaxed and protected while collecting a blood sample. The ability to explain the blood drawing process to patients and to show a comforting attitude toward patients creates an amiable environment.
• All Phlebotomists ensure proper identification, labeling and transporting of blood samples and other body fluids. They are responsible for keeping the work environment clean at all times as well as properly disposing of contaminated supplies. They are required to keep excellent recording keeping skills, using paper and electronic methods.
• Works under the general supervision and administrative direction from the Lead Clinical Research Coordinator as well as direction and supervision of the Research Project Manager and Principal Investigator, or designee, as required.

Requirements

• Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. Knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements for patients of all ages. Performs accessioning procedures appropriately and accurately to ensure positive identification of the specimens.
• Exhibits accuracy in specimen identification, labeling, accessioning, processing, and patient billing.
• Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills. Recognizes and resolves discrepancies as appropriate. Evaluates specimen suitability/acceptability.
• Follows study protocols to determine subject eligibility.
• Provides specific study information, answers questions, and provides direction to participants, providers, and staff regarding study
• Stays abreast of research policies and study changes.
• Responsible for informed consent discussions. Responsible for entering consent and nonconsent documentation with the electronic medical record system.
• Assists in training other study Patient Access Representatives.
• Creates and supports an environment of collaboration and mutual support between the research teams and project management.
• Increases enrollment, develops and maintains liaison with participants, providers, and staff.
• Meets or exceeds predetermined enrollment goals and service initiatives.
• Displays a positive attitude when interacting with participants, providers, and staff.
• Maintains an orderly work area
