Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Mental Health practice as a receptionist. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and organizational abilities to ensure smooth operations within the reception area.
Responsibilities:
1. Front Desk Operations:
· Greet and welcome patients in a warm and professional manner.
· Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, and provide information to callers.
· Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
2. Patient Registration:
· Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details.
· Assist new patients in completing necessary forms and documentation.
· Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of patient demographics.
3. Appointment Scheduling:
· Coordinate and schedule appointments for both new and existing patients.
· Communicate effectively with the clinical team to manage appointment availability.
· Send appointment reminders to patients and handle rescheduling requests.
4. Insurance Verification:
· Verify insurance information for patients and assist with billing inquiries.
· Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims.
5. Confidentiality and Compliance:
· Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
· Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines governing the field of psychiatry.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
· Facilitate communication between patients, clinicians, and other staff members.
· Collaborate with the clinical team to address any immediate patient concerns.
7. Problem Resolution:
· Address and resolve patient concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
· Escalate complex issues to the appropriate personnel within the practice.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience:
· Previous experience in a medical or psychiatric setting is preferred.
· Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
3. Skills:
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
4. Technology:
· Familiarity with standard office equipment and software applications.
Working Conditions:
The role involves working in a healthcare setting, interacting with patients, clinicians, and administrative staff. The position may require occasional flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of the practice. The standard operating hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. Minimum starting pay $17 per hour.
