Full Time Housekeeper/Laundry
Cloisters of the Valley Assisted Living is looking to hire Full time Housekeeping staff.
Our 70-bed community is nestled in the hills of Mission Valley, freeway close and convenient to all of San Diego.
Schedule: Regular, Full Time Hours are available. Must be able to work every weekend.
***Must like the elderly and feel comfortable around the elderly.***
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring resident rooms, as well as community common areas, and work areas are clean and sanitary. Will work with the Maintenance Team in communicating needs and opportunities to improve the community. Keeping the community sanitary and residents living in clean dignified rooms is of the highest priority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Successful performance requires satisfactory completion of all essential duties and responsibilities. The essential duties described below are representative of the skills and ability necessary while performing the basic functions of the position. · Responsible for cleaning resident rooms, closets, blinds, shutters, fixtures, storage areas. Dusting tables, dressers chairs, TV tables and other resident furniture. Responsible for cleaning bathrooms including toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, mirrors etc.
· Responsible for washing, drying, and folding of resident and community laundry.
· Responsible for vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, wet-moping, stripping, polishing, waxing and maintaining the community floors and carpets.
· Responsible for removing trash from resident rooms, common areas, offices as well as replacing the bags.
· Ensuring residents are safe and satisfied, as well as communicating any resident concern that may be noticed or witnessed.
· Look for ways to improve resident safety and satisfaction at the community and communicate them to the Executive Director.
· Follow all safety precautions and community policies in working with, handling and mixing cleaning solutions.
· Ensure cleaning and work schedules are followed.
· Ensure all safety measures and protocols are followed in the use of chemicals and solutions. Ensure chemicals and solutions and any other substance or device that could pose a hazard to a resident is properly stored while not in use and is in direct sight while in use.
· Ensure SDS sheets are present for each chemical or solution used and follow safe handling instructions stated in them.
· If it is believed or known that a chemical or device is lost, missing or stolen report it to the Maintenance Director and the Executive Director immediately.
· Check resident beds, mattresses, bedding and furniture for signs of bed bugs during scheduled room cleaning.
· Responsible for ensuring infection control and universal precautions and best practices are followed at all times when performing housekeeping duties.
· Ensure infectious waste is handled and disposed of according to established infection control and universal precautions guidelines and best practices.
· Ensure housekeeping cart is in good working order and locking door is operating properly. Ensure that chemicals left on cart are always locked unless they are in use and in your immediate field of view.
· Responsible for ensuring high traffic and first impression areas are always kept clean and in order.
· Ensure community is kept free of odors by preventing or quickly addressing incidents or situations that could cause odors.
· Understand and be able to follow all emergency response plans, including fire and evacuation plans.
· Always have a friendly and helpful attitude with residents, families, and guests.
· Assure confidentiality in all matters, including but not limited to employee and resident information.
· Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards.
· Encourage teamwork among all departments and assist with conflict resolution.
· Per State of California regulations, as a “mandated reporter” you must report all known or suspected incidents of resident abuse of dependent adults or elders.
· Performs other duties as assigned and consistent with the success of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience: Prefer one (1) year of related experience.
Professionalism/Personal Ethics: Has respect and compassion towards older adults. Demonstrates concern for the physical and emotional needs of residents and their families. Upholds values of company and shows personal integrity.
Mathematical/Reasoning Skills: Able to perform simple math calculations. Able to respond to resident needs with patience, compassion, and respect.
Communication Skills: Clearly able to speak, read, and understand English. Can follow oral and written instructions.
Working Conditions: Well-lighted and with appropriate ventilation and temperature levels. Handles exposure to extreme heat and cold.
Other Requirement: Employee must pass a criminal record clearance, health screening and drug testing prior to beginning work in the community.
Covid Requirements: All Employees must be able to pass background checks (fitness for duty physical, fingerprinting, employment references) as required by a licensed facility. Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly listen and speak to individuals, stand for long periods, move about the community, bend, reach, and grasp, lift up to 20 lbs., and assist with walking residents. Good vision is required.
