SUMMARY: Under the direction of the VP business banking, the business services manager is responsible for developing, managing, supporting, and growing the ongoing sales of all business deposit and small business loan products. The incumbent leads, motivates, develops, and guides fellow employees to understand business deposit products and to meet individual and credit union goals. The position also assists business members in choosing the appropriate products to meet their needs and helps establish the accounts for the member. In their role as part of the business banking department, the business services manager informs and executes departmental strategies and works with others within the credit union to ensure alignment and consistency across all delivery channels. It is expected that the position will travel up to 50% of the time within the credit union’s field of membership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Understand all business deposit and loan products offered by the credit union. This includes answering questions from members and staff, helping to establish new accounts, and troubleshooting software issues.
  • Meet monthly goals for new member, deposit balance, and loan volume.Recognize and pursue additional consumer cross-sell opportunities, including auto, credit card and share accounts.
  • Be knowledgeable of policies and procedures surrounding business banking deposit and loan products to include; on-line banking, merchant services, ACH, wires, remote capture, mobile capture, night drop, and account set up.
  • Accuracy in application documentation and adherence to established policies, practices, and procedures for business banking. Must maintain excellent member service. Must maintain a high degree of professionalism and ethical behavior.
  • Conduct member/prospect interviews for small business deposit and lending products. Collect financial information as needed.
  • Input small business loans in the Loan Operating System
  • Settle small business loans
  • Recognize large lending opportunities and refer to loan officer and/or vice president of business banking.
  • Participate in community/networking outreach events as needed.
  • Partner closely with management and vendors to develop the best sales strategies for each market.
  • Stay knowledgeable of competitor pricing and offerings; working with the marketing department as needed to ensure the credit union offers competitive and profitable products.
  • Provide ongoing sales coaching and development for all member facing staff by going on joint sales calls and providing periodic branch training.
  • Understand and comply with Federal & State laws, NCUA regulations, and the credit union’s BSA/AML Program and internal policies. This includes but is not limited to; annual compliance training; adhering to internal procedures and controls; reporting any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and reporting any suspicious member and/or account activity.

ADDITIONAL: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field (Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.) or equivalent work experience required.

Experience: Seven plus years of business deposit and small business loan sales experience with a financial institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of business deposit and small business loan products and applicable laws and regulations. Make decisions based on established guidelines but be an innovative problem solver- flexibility and creativity a must. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment. Possesses strong organization skills. Ability to integrate new technologies into daily activities to enhance efficiency and productivity. Strong negotiation and influence skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Must be able to work cooperatively with other co-workers regardless of personality, presence or communication style. Must be able to provide cordial member service regardless of member personality, presence or communication style. Must be able to coordinate multiple and changing priorities.
