Summary:
The role entails strategizing, managing, and organizing nursing provisions across service sites. It involves overseeing clinical services and health initiatives for clients within the designated area, including supervision of nursing staff. Collaborating with the Executive Director, the Director of Nursing ensures seamless coordination between healthcare, behavioral, and programmatic teams.
Responsibilities include daily clinical operation oversight, ensuring regulatory adherence, fostering business growth, achieving performance targets, and facilitating staff development.
Duties:
  • Directs the recruitment and hiring process for clinical staff, conducting interviews and ensuring their competency and performance.
  • Leads or participates in quarterly quality improvement meetings, analyzing relevant data, identifying trends, and overseeing the implementation of improvement plans for health services.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director in executing quality improvement activities and corrective action plans.
  • Actively engages in weekly team/staff meetings and participates in Interdisciplinary team (IDT/PDP) meetings.
  • Chairs relevant committees such as safety, infection control, incident/accident review, and human rights.
  • Contributes to the development of support plans for individuals served, fostering collaboration among nursing, behavioral, and programmatic team members.
  • Provides necessary training for staff, covering areas like medication administration, illness symptoms, corrective action plans, and clinical procedures.
  • Ensures proper completion of delegated clinical tasks, providing training, supervision, and routine performance reviews for delegates.
  • Ensures on-call nursing coverage and participates in on-call rotation.
  • Conducts annual on-site supervision for all staff.
  • Facilitates communication between nursing staff, direct care staff, medical providers, and consultants in coordination with Operations management.
  • Provides feedback to Operations management for necessary changes and revisions.
  • Ensures fair and timely evaluation of assigned staff according to ResCare performance evaluation procedures.
  • Ensures completion of orientation and required in-services for all clinical staff.
  • Coordinates and oversees activities with medical contract providers.
  • Attends and completes all relevant manager training.
  • Ensures on-call nursing coverage for weekends and after-hours access, participating in on-call rotation as needed.
  • Assists operations management in building positive community relations with external customers.
  • Oversees and responds to external and internal surveys and audits related to health services in collaboration with operations leadership.
  • Ensures timely completion of mortality reviews and submission to State Health Services Director and Assigned Director, Clinical Practice within five days of death.
  • Reviews utilization reports monthly to adjust client plans and ensure needs are met.
  • Ensures nursing services adhere to authorizations and care plans.
  • Monitors due dates for nursing assessments and ensures timely completion.
  • Obtains medication and service authorizations promptly.
  • Provides direct nursing care when necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master’s or DNP in nursing.
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Minnesota APRN license.
