Senior Drilling/Workover Engineer - AES

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Drilling/Workover Engineer is responsible for developing detailed programs to drill and/or workover oil, gas or geothermal wells. Duties would include providing cost estimates, detailed well plans, coordinating with various contractors in service of drilling and/or workover activity and closely collaborate with field company men during the job execution.

Additional duties would include working with the Business Development and wider ACES team to provide technical responses to various RFP (Requests for Proposals).

The Senior Drilling/Workover Engineer is to be an example of professional leadership in the office and in field operations. They are to complete required program audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ensure conformance with company and client requirements and ensure timely completion of accurate reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and ensure safe work practices in drilling and workover operations.
  • Develop company and client conformant procedures.
  • Remains knowledgeable with industry best practices and applies same to well plans.
  • Leads hazard and risk assessments for drilling and workover activity.
  • Ensure equipment and procedures are appropriate for the desired operation.
  • Provide engineering support to field company men.
  • Collaborate with client(s) to establish a work plan, an execution schedule and reporting schedule.
  • Assure that change orders are communicated and approved before work is started.
  • Maintain regulatory and company-required training.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as projects require.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year Bachelor of Science degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of drilling and/or rig workover engineering experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Power User of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook),
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and to travel out of town on short notice for extended periods of time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree.
  • IADC Well Control Supervisory Course completion.
  • 5 years of more of field experience in drilling and/or rig workovers.
  • 10 years of drilling and/or workover experience in Arctic conditions.
  • Experience in Continental US (L48) onshore drilling and workover operations.
