Miami County is Hiring an Account Clerk I Near Troy, OH

CLASSIFICATION PURPOSEThe purpose of the Account Clerk is to Process a variety of accounting transactions, prepare invoices for payment, post to ledgers and journals, process and record receipts, perform reconciliations and account reviews. Perform general office duties as required.JOB DUTIES
  • Perform a variety of accounting transactions. Receive invoices, check for accuracy, prepare and code for payment. Create summary sheets and post information to tracking spreadsheets. Make copies and maintain files as needed. Process foster parent invoices, pay per diems to foster parents, process shared cost invoices for foster children, assist obliges, obligors and the public with the handling of accounts. Log funds received, maintain internal funding reports. Enter information into the appropriate county and state accounting applications. 60%
  • Perform social services duties of determining children’s eligibility for IV-E program utilizing SACWIS, Ohio Benefits and Social Security; completed financial worksheet to determine eligibility, enters financial information into SACWIS. 25%
  • Assembles data and prepares various fiscal/financial reports. Performs basic auditing / examining duties such as verifying balances and coding information. Accounts for inventory records and reports changes annually to the County Auditor’s office. Reconciles and prepares for payment IV-D invoices and Title XX invoices. 10%
  • Perform various clerical duties such as word processing, filing, copy work, scanning, incoming mail, fax distribution, post outgoing mail, daily Safety Building process, and other duties as assigned.
  • These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.
MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS
  • Knowledge of Office Practices and Procedures, Bookkeeping/Accounting
  • Skills in Word Processing, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), General Office Equipment
  • Ability to Maintain accurate records, perform standard clerical duties, perform intermediate mathematical and accounting operations
MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENTHigh School Diploma or equivalentADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSTwo courses or twelve months experience in business mathematics, two courses or twelve months experience in accounting or bookkeeping 
HOURSMonday – Friday, 8a – 5p (Hours may vary due to the needs of the agency outside of normal working hours)
