PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure the: Safety of all employees within the plant, including eliminating any unsafe acts and conditions. Primary responsibilities Manage/Operate chemical plant systems. Operate equipment to adjust speed of chemical reactions or yields. Operate panel boards, control boards, and semi-automatic equipment. Report spills or dangerous conditions. Draw and analyze samples of products. Interpret chemical reactions on monitors. Patrol tanks and troughs to ensure they aren't overflowing. Monitor plant to ensure efficient production. Regulate and shut down equipment if necessary. Use steam to defrost frozen valves. Operate and test towers, soap-spray storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors, and driers. Test equipment for malfunctions. Responsible for maintaining housekeeping standards Calculate material requirements and collect appropriate materials. Ensure chemicals are stored properly. Use calibrated rods to gauge tank levels. Keep track of instrument readings. Adjust power, steam, water, and air supplies. Functions as First Responder and arranges for medical treatment in case of severe injury. Works with Manager - Safety to develop materials and agendas for safety meetings then conducts when needed. Enters Production data into plant systems. Coordinates needed circuit maintenance.
