Summary:

As a Technical Writer and Editor (Internship), you will specialize in drafting technical documentation and presentations producing engaging content and campaigns to grow the knowledge of our user base. You will have an understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management which will enhance your ability to support our Customer Success Management, Product Implementation, and Technical Enablement teams.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Create and refine technical information and other various materials for explaining products and services.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
  • Meet with subject matter experts to ensure messaging is consistent and in alignment with our products goals.
  • Develop new approaches for creating more precise and engaging knowledge base articles for the company.
  • Use company brand voice and messaging for written pieces to reinforce the company culture.
  • QA content for errors.
  • Implement comprehensive technical documentation, feedback, and changes whenever possible.
  • Create technical documents that convey accurate messaging for the project. 

Key Tasks

The technical writer and editor will be expected to:

  1. Develop technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from provided outlines
  2. Update existing Technical SOPs for consistency, clarity, and formatting
  3. Update templates for customer presentations materials
  4. Capture screenshot/graphics for all the documents above based on using Qmulos Products 

Key Deliverables:

  1. Co-develop new deployment guides, e.g., OMB M-21-31 and CMMC
  2. Updates to Q-Compliance and Q-Audit installation guides
  3. Standardize master product delivery templates, including customer and training templates
  4. Updates to Professional Services Report Template 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Strong Writing Skills: Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and technically accurate documents, e.g., SOPs, deployment guides, and templates.
  2. Microsoft Office Expertise: Proficiency in using relevant software tools for document creation and editing, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  3. Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously review and edit documents for consistency, clarity, formatting, and adherence to company standards.
  4. Collaboration Skills: Capability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with subject matter experts and other team members to gather necessary information for document creation and updates.
  5. Organization and Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  6. Product Learning: Ability to learn and familiarize with Qmulos Products in order to produce technical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Documentation Skills: Previous experience with documentation, including installation guides and professional services reports would be beneficial.
  2. Experience in Editing: Previous experience in editing technical documents for a variety of audiences, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guides, would be advantageous.
  3. Experience with Template Design: Experience in designing and standardizing document templates for various purposes, including customer presentations and training materials, would be an asset.
  4. Educational Background: A degree or coursework in technical writing, English, communication, or a related field would be desirable.
  5. Familiarity with Cybersecurity and Compliance: Prior experience or knowledge in cybersecurity and/or compliance standards and regulations related to technical documentation would be advantageous.
  6. Familiarity with Data Analytics or Splunk: Prior Splunk or data analytics experience will be helpful.
