MARC, Inc of Manchester is Hiring a Residential DSP Floater Near Manchester, CT

Do you love helping others? Are you understanding, attentive, and kind? Then this might be a great opportunity for you! We are currently looking for a Direct Support Professional - Floater to help the people we are supporting in our group homes.
MARC, Inc. is seeking a dependable Direct Support Professional for our Residential Department who will be responsible for assisting persons with developmental disabilities in their daily activities including taking care of their home, finances, proper nutrition, and medical needs to the best of their ability. They will develop natural supports and assist individuals with personal growth and reaching their goals. The ideal candidate will have compassion, previous experience assisting adults with special needs, strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good judgment.
Requirements: Must have a valid Driver's License and vehicle with current registration and insurance, as driving is a requirement of the position. Must have a High School Diploma. CPR, First Aid, PMT and Med Certification are preferred.
Full-Time position available; Flexible hours to include nights and weekends. Hours will change weekly.
Essential Duties & RespondibilitiesAssists residential persons served with medical appointments.
Communicates with group home managers , lead staff and nursing on medical appointments.
Assists with coverage in all group homes to include nights and weekends
Support the person served in taking care of their home, finances, proper nutrition, and medical needs to the best of their ability..
Provides both staff and natural supports to and implements services for the person served.
Ensures the person served becomes involved in their community utilizing natural supports.
Adheres to Personnel Policies and Procedures at all times.
Ensures residential settings according to the physical standards at all times.
Ensures that all persons served are accorded all their rights and responsibilities and are free from abuse or neglect.
Follows the Residential Policies and Procedures Manual at all times.
Ensures confidentiality and demonstrates positive attitude and behavior at all times so as to provide an appropriate role model for others.
Completes all agency and state required documentation in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
Attends all applicable MARC training sessions including CPR, First Aid, PMT, and Medication Certification. All trainings must be completed within six months of hire date or termination will follow. All trainings must be kept current.
Transports persons served in either an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle whenever necessary.
Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles reporting all needed repairs to the Group Home Manager
Performs other duties as designated by the Assistant & Residential Director.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma
Ability to maintain CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification within six months of hire and maintain throughout duration of employment at MARC.
Must be flexible as schedule will change week to week.
Ability to act quickly and remain calm in a crisis.
Ability to organize, be flexible, work alternative hours, keep a neat work area, and work independently.
Knowledge of agency policies and state and federal laws.
Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle in order to transport employees and/or self with valid personal auto liability insurance.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written and strong attention to detail.
Must be proficient with computers, cell phones, chrome books, laptops, tablets, and other technology.
Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability.
Physical EffortsFrequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people
