Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Blaster Painter to join our shipyard team. As a Blaster Painter, you will play a pivotal role in preparing and coating the surfaces of ships, marine structures, and vessels. Your expertise will contribute to the longevity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our marine projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of ship and marine structure surfaces to identify and assess corrosion, rust, old paint, and contaminants.
  • Utilize abrasive blasting equipment, such as sandblasters or water jet machines, to remove rust, coatings, and contaminants, creating a clean and suitable surface for painting.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during blasting operations.
  • Inspect blasted surfaces to verify that they meet cleanliness and profile standards, addressing any remaining issues as needed.
  • Select, mix, and apply primers and paints according to project specifications, environmental conditions, and vessel requirements.
  • Employ various painting techniques, including spray guns, brushes, and rollers, to achieve a uniform and durable finish.
  • Perform quality control checks throughout the painting process, addressing any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Choose appropriate coatings and paints based on factors like corrosion resistance, marine environment exposure, and aesthetic considerations.
  • Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of materials used, surface preparation, and painting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Blaster Painter in a shipyard, marine, or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with abrasive blasting techniques and equipment.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation and paint application.
  • Knowledge of different types of coatings and paints, including their appropriate uses.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment, following established safety protocols.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 – 60 per week
