Job Description
How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary)
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Member Engagement Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the membership department following the mission and purpose of the Greater Austin YMCA. You initiate and implement new programs, training, and supervision of department staff and the evaluation and modification of department initiatives. You ensure that all YMCA standards are being met and/or exceeded as they relate to membership and program development.
You will also support the enterprise's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and the core character values of the YMCA. Reporting directly to the Executive Director/Associate Center Executive you will partner closely with other senior leaders throughout the enterprise to achieve outcomes.
How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)
Performance Achievement Results
  • Directly supervise part-time employees and volunteers.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Recruit, train, and develop non-exempt and part-time program staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure sales are tracked and plans to meet sales goals are communicated to the team as well as implemented.
  • Plan, assign, and direct staff and volunteer work.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, rewards, and discipline.
  • Monitor and update all required staff certifications.
  • Solve member inquiries.
  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA's five core values, and character development model into all program activities.
  • Organize and schedule program registrations and compile program statistics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establish new program activities and expands programs within the community following the Association and branch strategic plans.
  • Assist in-center fundraising activities and special events.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Assist with Program Committee meetings.
  • Serve as an exempt staff member to the Greater Austin YMCA, performing those duties as assigned by supervisor- Executive Director, VP of Operations and Chief Operating Officer of the YMCA.
Membership
  • Collect and advertise all facility class schedules.
  • Assure class/program registrations are entered into the database on time.
  • Manage website and social media outlets.
  • Coordinate use of branch facilities for program activities and events, including working with all departments to ensure the smooth flow of programming.
  • Ensure staff are informed and provides excellent customer service.
  • Perform welcome center duties as required.
  • Ensure the budget is made, maintained and budgetary plans are communicated with the team.
  • Build personal and meaningful relationships with the wider community to advance the Y Mission
  • Cultivate collaboration with other mission-based organizations.
  • Represent the Y vision and voice in the wider community.
  • Implement association strategies for promotions and initiatives designed to grow membership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree or a blend of education, professional experience, and training.
  • Three or more years of management experience.
  • Experience in customer service, sales, marketing, and knowledge of a member relations database.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics.
