Cardiovascular Associates/The Heart Group Medical Clinic Inc. is looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join a cardiology team within our practice.

Clinical Duties

• Take vital signs, weight, screening, and testing under the direction of a physician or Nurse Practitioner (EKG, Holter’s)
• Process clinical documentation using electronic medical record system while maintaining security compliance standards

Education: High school diploma or GED, MA Certification and EKG Technician Certification or college enrolled or degree equivalent. Customer service and college coursework a plus.

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of patient confidentiality, HIPAA and medical chart documentation, reporting, medical records, and referral management

Abilities/Skills

• Ability to plan, organize, and execute all aspects of the role
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to educate patients about diagnostic procedures and follow up care instructions per physician and/or Nurse Practitioner order(s)
• Ability to multitask, manage priorities and workflow, including timely response to phone calls, requests for records and medication refills
• Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations
• Skilled in identifying and appropriately resolving questions or concerns expressed by others
• Skilled in understanding and responding effectively to diversity in the workplace
• Skilled in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action

Work Environment: Position includes varied activities, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including assisting patients with safe transfer. Requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination and the ability to lift to 50 pounds. Scheduled evening and hours in rotation with other department staff.

Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Medical Assistant. May be exposed to contagious diseases and other patient-related conditions.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring every patient experience is outstanding as the first clinical point of contact for new and established patients. Primary duties include assisting the physician and clinical team in coordination of patient care. Functions as the primary liaison between physicians, patients, and staff.
