Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team and oversee the financial operations of our family office. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a solid background in accounting, financial management, and business operations. This individual will work closely with our current Controller, who will provide guidance and support during the transition period until retirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of financial accounting and reporting for the family office and affiliated enterprises.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management review.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance across all business segments, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions as needed.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to family members on personal financial matters, estate planning, and asset management.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
  • Experience working in a family office or closely-held business environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable in a leadership position, able to make strategic decisions.
