Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, the Commercial Lending Officer will oversee the Commercial Lending Department’s Commercial Loan, Member Business Loan, Government Guaranteed Loans and Business Microloan production / operations, in support of small business owners and individuals within SCCCU. This individual will provide primary supervision and support to the Commercial Lending Team, in developing and maintaining member service standards and ensuring member loan requests are serviced timely and accurately. In addition, this individual will ensure compliance with SCCCU’s lending policies and procedures and will perform duties adhering to all rules, regulations, and laws, in meeting SCCCU’s goals and objectives. 

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Interview loan applicants, collect and analyze financial and related data to determine applicants’ general creditworthiness and merits of the specific loan request;

Establish and negotiate terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method, timing and impose any collateral requirements;

Recommend approval of loans and identify any loans requiring special attention;.

Collect and analyze information reflecting current creditworthiness of applicants and current merits of existing loans; update applicants’ credit file information obtained by direct inspection of applicants; business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports and/or by personal interview;

Monitor loan payment activities and take necessary actions to resolve delinquencies;

Advise and assist members on business management and financial matters;

Promote and develop new business and cross-sell SCCCU’s products and services;

Ensure SCCCU’s interest in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to internal policies, governing laws, rules and regulations and ensure diligent exercise of sound credit decisions in the commercial lending areas;

Keep abreast of lending regulations, laws, regulatory, professional guidance and best practices and communicate these matters accordingly;

Review, analyze, evaluate and recommend changes to and/or new commercial/MBL products, services, loan portfolio concentrations and servicing of assets, to maintain efficiency, effectiveness, market relevancy, safety and soundness;

Review, update and/or create policies and procedures, in support of current lending operations, products and services in compliance with all regulatory rules, regulations and laws;

Monitor and report on commercial/MBL loan portfolios and provide data to stakeholders in support of planning, budgeting financial and regulatory reporting;

Maintain and keep management abreast of current and forecasted market conditions affecting loan portfolios;

Participate in job-related training, programs, attend meetings, seminars and conferences, As necessary;

Attend/complete all compliance training and education;

Perform duties, in compliance with regulatory requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act;

Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline;

Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial, MBL, government guaranteed lending/analysis within a financial institution working directly with commercial clients, assessing credit risk, originating and funding loans and managing a commercial loan portfolio;

Understanding of accounting and finance, including working knowledge of financial statements and cash flow;

Experience with structuring commercial loans, including commercial real estate loans, term loans and lines of credit; experience with related loan documentation;

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel, Word and Outlook;

Proficiency in industry-related loan documentation software applications;

Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment;

Proficient organizational; time management; attention to detail and high level of accuracy skills;

Exceptional written and oral communication, interpersonal, attentive listening and customer service skills;

Exceptional organizational, time management, attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, problem-solving and follow-through skills

Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment.

Holder of valid CA driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation;

Must be fully bondable.

Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred. 

Compensation:

$77,964 - $116,936 DOE for this full-time exempt position.
