NUMBER AND TYPE OF PERSONS SUPERVISED:

2 to 4 Home Visitors (HV), Parents as Teachers

Program Assistant, Parents as Teachers

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality home visiting services to families in accordance with the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model. The role involves maintaining program fidelity through strengths-based professional supervision of direct service staff, facilitating home visits, and coordinating group events for participating families as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Supervisory Support
•Provide supervisory support for 2 to 4 Home Visitors (HV) to include weekly supervision sessions, with at least 1.5 hours allotted for each session.
•Ensure that home visiting documentation is completed accurately and submitted in accordance with both agency and Parents as Teachers quality standards.
•Monitor and report on HV caseloads and home visit completion rates.
•Observe each HV in home visits at least quarterly and provide feedback that encourages professional development.
•Routinely provide reflective supervision to HV to support their work with families while enhancing their professional skills.
•Develop and implement initial training plans for Family Support Specialists (FSS) and ensure assigned staff meet all Parents as Teachers (PAT) training requirements.
•Work flexible hours to meet the needs of families, including some evenings and weekends.

Family Services
•Develop and maintain working knowledge of PAT Standards to ensure services provided by HVs adhere to the PAT program model.
•Maintain knowledge of community resources to support HVs in their work with families.
•Ensure each participating family completes required program assessments, stays current with immunizations and well-child visits, and receives referrals to community resources according to program policies and procedures.
•Support HVs in developing Family Goal Plans and monitor family progress towards goals.
•Review and monitor family situations that result in the submission of incident reports and work with program staff to provide intervention services to families as needed.
•Facilitate home visits as needed.

Program Support
•Act as a team leader by assisting with team meeting facilitation on a rotating basis and providing daily support and crisis management.
•Participate in administrative program meetings.
•Assist in staff selection by conducting initial interviews.
•Facilitate orientation training for new staff and assist with developing and revising staff training.
•Assist with the revision of program forms and updating policies/procedures as needed.
•Support the completion of annual participant satisfaction surveys and compilation of results.
•Assist with reporting and data management.
•Work closely with the department director to obtain and maintain program certification and fidelity.

Networking and Coordination Activities
•Participate in PAT Supervisor meetings.
•Participate in community meetings and workgroups as applicable.
•Facilitate community presentations about program services as needed.
•Collaborate with agency staff from other programs when appropriate.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Director of Programs and Services.

EDUCATION:

Master's degree in social work, behavioral sciences, psychology, and/or mental health required.

Social work and/or counseling license preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
•At least 5 years of experience providing direct services to families with children that embrace the concepts of family-centered, strength-based, culturally sensitive service provision.
•At least 3 years of experience working directly with families with children in-home or in group settings.
•Experience in early childhood prevention services preferred.
•Experience with delivering family-serving programs under the Parents as Teachers model a plus!

SKILLS:

Solid understanding of and/or experience in supervising and motivating staff, as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environments.

Knowledge of infant/child development, parent-child attachment, maternal-infant health, and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.

Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to reflective supervision, data collection, and continuous quality improvement.

Fluent in Spanish a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

A driver's license and insured vehicle necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Must be prepared to travel to various communities.
