General Responsibilities:

The Cosmetology Instructor is responsible for teaching adult cosmetology apprentice students enrolled in the apprenticeship program. The instructor prepares and delivers lessons to ensure students receive comprehensive training in cosmetology techniques and practices.

Education and Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have a current Virginia Cosmetology Instructor license and possess in-depth knowledge of cosmetology with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience. Candidates must be passionate about sharing their expertise with students and enthusiastic about the cosmetology industry. The successful candidate must hold a current VA cosmetology license.

Essential Job Functions:

Develop and deliver courses that equip students with the necessary skills to excel in the cosmetology field.

Stay updated with current industry trends, techniques, and regulations.

Conduct instructional activities, including demonstrations, explanations, and monitoring during practical sessions and assessments.

Assist students in mastering cosmetology techniques and theories through hands-on training.

Maintain a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.

Communicate effectively with adult learners and administrative staff to address any concerns or issues.

Adhere to established school policies and procedures, working under the supervision of administrative personnel.

Availability to work evening hours from 6 pm to 9:30 pm to accommodate adult students' schedules.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as necessary for instructional materials and equipment.

Perform any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by school management.

This role requires a dedicated individual who is not only skilled in cosmetology but also committed to nurturing the next generation of cosmetologists through effective teaching and mentorship.
