The Dental Group is Hiring an Orthodontic Dental Assistant Near Riverdale, MD

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will work closely with orthodontists and dental professionals to provide exceptional patient care and support. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with orthodontic procedures, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a clean and sterile environment.

Duties:

- Assist orthodontists during procedures, including preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments

- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the orthodontist

- Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures and addressing any concerns or questions

- Perform preliminary examinations, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history

- Assist with the placement and removal of orthodontic appliances

- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide post-treatment care instructions

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes

- Manage inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained

- Follow proper infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile work environment

Requirements:

- Certification or licensure as an Expanded Functions Orthodontic Assistant

- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix for scheduling appointments and managing patient records

- Knowledge of medical terminology, dental coding, and insurance billing procedures

- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Experience with medical documentation and recordkeeping
