The Indianapolis Public Library is Hiring a Team Lead, Shipping & Receiving Near Indianapolis, IN

P osition Details Title: Team Lead, Shipping & Receiving
Location: CMSA Shipping & Receiving
Hours: Full -Time (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7 am - 3:30 pm.
Starting Hourly Rate: $20.46
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary...The Team Lead assists the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor in leading, training, and coaching team members, in addition to performing team member work. The Team Lead maintains procedural manuals,
productivity statistics, data entry and recordkeeping as assigned by supervisor. Under general supervision of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, the Team Lead receives deliveries, loads trucks, drives routine routes to library locations, performs deliveries and pickup of materials, equipment, and mail at library locations. Unloads and unpacks skids of new library collection materials. Performs other miscellaneous deliveries and pickups.
A successful candidate will…
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience with delivery driving and pallet jacks preferred
  • Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position
  • Have a safe driving record
  • Be bilingual (preferred but not required).
What does the job look like?
  • Serve as team lead for Shipping and Receiving team members, for answering questions, setting priorities, and directing workload and assignments.
  • Train, coach and perform quality assurance checks on team members. Report performance level for team members to Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.
  • Work with Processing team to reconcile shipment shortages or new material damage/errors found by team members.
  • Assist shipping and receiving supervisor in documenting and maintaining procedures and team communication.
  • Serve as a back-up to shipping and receiving supervisor as a main contact for the team
  • Assist in daily duty assignment and staff dispatches.
  • Accurately maintain, enter, and update delivery information in Optimoroute, complete other data entry, data analysis, and record keeping as assigned by supervisor
  • Mail delivery oversight, research personnel locations and moves, informs others.
  • Acts as liaison with other departments about workflow exceptions and special projects
  • Performs all current duties of team members, as needed, for delivery and pickup, mail pickup/sort/delivery, sorting library materials, receiving shipments, unpacking shipments, Booksale support, room setup, clean-up, and recycling
  • Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position
  • Able to cope with daily job-related stress
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Able to work as a member of a team to achieve the goals of the department
  • Occasional outside work
  • Position requires constant standing and use of vision
  • Position requires occasional sitting, lifting, carrying, reaching, use of fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, use of hearing and talking
  • Position requires frequent walking, pushing/pulling of thirty pounds or less in equipment and handling of ten pounds or less in materials, boxes and paperwork
  • Position rarely requires crawling, climbing or balancing
