Job Title: Class 2 Production Equipment Mechanic

Department: Engineering & Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Position Type: Full-time, Regular

Shift: Day, Swing & Night

Location: Watsonville, CA

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Union

Job Summary

The Class 2 Production Equipment Mechanic has primary responsibility to install, troubleshoot and repair production equipment and Facilities systems as needed for efficient plant operations and/or as directed by a supervisor.

Job Functions 

  • Possess complete working knowledge to operate, diagnose, change over, repair and maintain all production related equipment in safe, efficient condition.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of all Company maintenance power and hand tools, including but not limited to MIG/TIG and arc welding, oxygen-acetylene torch, plasma cutter, lathe, drill press, cut off saws, and plumbing tools.
  • Document hours and parts used in maintenance or repairs and parts requisitions using CMMS as necessary.
  • Train others in mechanical procedures, practices and on new equipment as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and implement various solutions.

Job Qualifications 

  • 2-3 years experience as a mechanic in a food/beverage manufacturing/production environment.
  • Have all the qualifications and responsibilities of a Class 4 Mechanic.
  • Able to work unassisted as needed in performing other jobs assigned by Supervisor or Management on various shifts.
  • Possess fabrication skills and basic proficiency with electrical systems.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Must meet employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

  • Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, and periodically lift up-to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Expected to be highly familiar with production operations, and to regularly visit all significant Company operations.
  • Work is performed outdoors, production, manufacturing, and warehouse facilities.
