Job Description:

Position Objective:

The Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic manufacturing equipment. An in-depth knowledge of electronics and electrical equipment is necessary for this job and is responsible for a broad and diverse equipment base, such as PLC’s, Computer controlled, CNC, digital logic, electric and any other electronic microprocessor type controlled equipment. The role is to diagnose and repair electrical and electronic failures and to support the mechanical team with direction and expertise as necessary. This position will report to the Automation Manufacturing Engineer.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analysis and troubleshooting of complex technical problems applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics
  • Install electronic equipment, machinery, measuring devices and testing equipment
  • Inspect, maintain and creates preventing maintenance schedule in existing and new equipment
  • Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with engineering personnel
  • Develops wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion
  • Recommends changes in circuitry, controls and computers or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
  • Replace existing equipment based on age, operation and functionality.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial electrical technology or similar
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and express ideas to management, peers, and production staff
  • Must be analytical with critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office software applications, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Amp, Volt, Ohm, and other electric/electronic meters use
  • PLC, computer programming and PC-based diagnostic software
