Lead Veterinary Technician
Latham Animal Hospital in Latham, NY
$23.00 - $32.00 an hour depending on experience and availability
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Provides compassionate care to patients and clients
  • Keeps accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
  • Lead staff with positive attitude and assist in resolving conflicts and concerns
  • Balance both clinical and administrative duties in both hospital locations
  • Handle client complaints, escalate to Practice Manager if needed
  • Create and distribute work schedules for all support staff
  • Train new technicians and assistants
  • Interview paraprofessional staff with Practice Manager
  • Paraprofessional employee reviews (3 months, then every 12 months) with Practice Manager
  • Prepares estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients
  • Explains needed follow up and home care instructions
  • Stocks clinic treatment area and exams rooms, assists with hospital inventory
  • Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical procedures; prepares patients for surgery; administers anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) in the state of New York (or eligible for transfer) required for this role
  • Prior leadership or management experience desired.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
