American Public Education, Inc. is Hiring a PCI Compliance Analyst & IT Auditor Near Charles Town, WV

American Public Education, Inc. The PCI Compliance Analyst and IT Auditor will be responsible for executing high-quality audits, risk management and control services over the IT infrastructure, applications, and processes for APEI and its subsidiaries. This role will focus on risk assessment and review of internal controls related to Payment Card Industry Standards, corporate policy, laws, and regulations as they relate to the overall governance of IT processes.
This position reports directly to the Manager of IT Audit and indirectly to the Chief Information Security Officer. This position has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops and executes projects related to IT General Controls (ITGC), Payment Card Industry, Data Privacy, and other laws and regulations governing the company.
  • Develops and executes specific projects established in the annual audit plan and develops the scope and objectives of IT audits while ensuring alignment with audit standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Prepares audit summaries and reviews audit results with senior IT management, providing observations and conclusions, as well as identifies and communicates control gaps and evaluates management action plans and related reporting
  • Keeps abreast of relevant business developments and evolving IT risk areas.
  • Contributes ideas and opinions to the internal audit team by assisting financial/operational auditors in applying IT audit principles and concepts; identifies the relevant automated controls to include in the audit scope; designs audit programs/procedures to assess their adequacy and documents the impact of strengths or weaknesses to current audit procedures/objectives.
  • Draft/update IT related policies/procedures that govern auditing, compliance, and security across the enterprise.
  • Design, lead and execute a Compliance program focused on PCI data handling across the enterprise.
  • Partner with security teams to identify and analyze security requirements to align with PCI compliance and SOX standards.
  • Educate and build awareness of PCI compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with Third-Party Risk management to ensure PCI compliance needs are being addressed and tracked appropriately with third-party vendors.
  • Coordinate with Legal to ensure the overall compliance landscape is well understood and the program captures a complete view of our PCI compliance needs.
  • Contributes ideas and opinions to the internal audit team.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships within the team and individuals throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in Information Technology operations
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Microsoft environment, including Office, SharePoint, Project, Visio, Active Directory and SDLC applications and processes
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with PCI Compliance and Audit Support
  • Strong understanding of business processes, financial reporting, and information technology audit and control frameworks such as SOX, COBIT, ITIL, and PCI
  • Solid knowledge of IT audit methodologies and control frameworks for IT platforms, processes, systems, and controls, including areas such as network security, logical access and change management controls at an infrastructure and application level, databases and systems maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of mitigation methodologies and regulatory requirements pertaining to PCI, SOX and information security, privacy and/or data security.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment and familiarity with tools and techniques used to provide control and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work within deadlines, juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to ask questions, escalate roadblocks early, and interact effectively at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to drive process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and/or with other team members.
  • Advanced skills with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Ability to interact with APEI staff and it’s subsidiaries as well as external auditors in a positive and professional manner.
  • Acquiring and maintaining job and professional knowledge: staying abreast of the latest technology and knowledge, best practices, and other developments in the employee’s area of competence.
  • Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to solve problems in an ever-changing environment.
  • Solid interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must have a solid understanding of SOX, PCI, GLBA, CCPA, and similar IT Compliance and Privacy regulations.
  • Experience with NIST, ISO, COBIT and other industry standards.
Education/Experience:
  • BS or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology Preferred or equivalent experience
  • Professional certification (QSA, CISSP, CISA, CSIM, CIA or similar) is highly desired
