The Morgan Oliver School for Anti-Racism is Hiring an Assistant Head of School Near Atlanta, GA

Assistant Head of School

Job Summary:

The role of the Assistant Head of School is to support the Head of School in overall administration, operations as well as support of high quality instruction and continuous improvement of student performance and well-being. The position reports to the Head of School. This is a full-time 12 month contracted position for 229 days with annual review for renewal. Roles and responsibilities are subject to adjustment based on the discretion of the Head of School.

Responsibilities:

  • Academic Support
      • Monitor implementation of academic programs in classroom according to school improvement plan
      • Collaborate with the Head of School to plan and execute professional development
      • Mentor teachers and provide on-going in-classroom support to improve instruction and assessment
      • Oversee additional academic programs and supports such as MTSS 
      • Monitor and evaluate the use of diagnostic, formative and summative assessments to provide timely and accurate feedback to students and parents and inform classroom instructional practices
      • Attend intervention, evaluation and retention meetings as needed 
    • Supervision
      • Supporting formal building-level employee induction processes and mentoring procedures to assist all new personnel
      • Schedule and supervise substitutes for instructional coverage
      • Evaluate instructional staff using effectiveness system in coordination with the Head of School 
  • Operations & Finance Support
      • Address building and management concerns by working with custodial, office staff and teachers to implement and uphold school-wide safety protocols
      • Collaborate and develop schedules as needed throughout the year that maximize instructional time
      • Assists with financial operation of the school as needed and demonstrate fiscal management of funds
      • Perform personnel functions (interview, train and hire) in coordination with the Head of School
  • School climate
    • Implement and monitor school-wide behavior expectations including attendance, school and building incidents and address safety concerns
    • Create partnerships with parents and community engaging in meetings as needed
    • Supervise interns assigning and directing work as needed to support Head of School
    • Resolve student issues by meeting with students, parents, teachers and other school staff and designing a plan of action

Perform other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Education field from an accredited college or university 
  • Valid Georgia Educational certificate Level T5 or higher
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience, preferably with diverse populations and in a charter school environment
  • Working knowledge of literacy, math, strategies for special needs students

  • Able to research, collect and synthesize data as well as design, implement and evaluate programs
  • Familiar with technology programs specifically Infinite Campus, Google Suite

  • Must apply an asset-based mindset for students and staff
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strong belief in restorative approaches to school discipline
