Position Overview

The Grants and Project Specialist is a key driver of grants management and knowledge integration for the Institutional Partnerships (IP) team. This role is responsible for driving progress towards all key fundraising deliverables across the team by tracking deadlines, monitoring progress towards completion, and supporting in pulling key information related to funder proposals and reports as deemed appropriate. The Grants and Project Specialist will also compile application materials for their own small portfolio of renewal reports and proposals, which may increase over time, and supporting call materials for the team as deemed appropriate. Simultaneously, this role will ensure that contracts, communications, and key data and metrics are captured in a systematized way for the IP Team.

The Grants and Project Specialist is also an internal point person for the IP team, that serves as a bridge to information across the organization including key market-level data, organizational context, stories, and updates from other Jumpstart teams. The Grants and Project Specialist will both aggregate and organize this information in a thoughtful way and support comprehensive updates and concept development.

The successful candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills and is collaborative, optimistic, detail-oriented, and demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit. The ideal candidate has experience working in a fundraising capacity and a track record of strong project management skills. This position reports to the Senior National Director of Institutional Partnerships and works to support the full Institutional Partnerships team.

Specific Responsibilities

Grants and Project Management (50%)

  • Coordinate and maintain the grants management process including the management of the schedule of submissions and progress towards completion
  • Implement moves management tracking and revenue reporting for all institutional gifts in Salesforce for on-time reporting, weekly internal IP meetings and larger department team meetings
  • Execute on assignment of tasks to collaborating teams in Salesforce and via other methodologies as deemed appropriate and pulling reports of tasks for team discussion
  • Support communication with external grants firm, ensuring they have data, budgets, information, etc., needed to craft compelling grant narratives
  • Lead the project management process for government grants, including AmeriCorps proposals
  • Provide back-up support to Devo Ops team for gifts processing

Knowledge Integration (30%)

  • Support the execution of Market Meetings, a cross-departmental meeting designed to capture key market data and updates and provide updates to the rest of the organization from the Development team
  • Work collaboratively with the Donor Relations teams to stay abreast of funder acquisition opportunities that can be leveraged by the Institutional Partnerships team
  • Support the relationship with OpsTech to ensure valid and reliable data capture in Salesforce
  • Support the relationship between Institutional Partnerships and all other key Jumpstart departments to understand what opportunities there are to fund various components of department-level work, as well as leverage happenings with programming, community engagement, policy advocacy, evaluation and more to capitalize on webinars, thought partnership, etc.

Grant Writing & Supports(20%)

  • Support and draft the proposal, grant, and report writing and editing process for a small portfolio of institutional funders and prospects
  • Craft compelling materials for use in cultivating, stewardship and soliciting institutional donors that compellingly convey mission and direction and address the programmatic interests of each funder.
  • Contribute to special events and projects as part of the Development team

Qualifications


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Must have 3-5 years of institutional giving development experience including wins from grant submissions
  • Prior experience with grants management, successful grant writing and solicitation
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and presentation skills, with evidence of ability to tailor communication to audiences and situations
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, including the ability to balance multiple priorities while performing at a high-level in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM database
  • On-going commitment and interest in social justice or diversity, equity and inclusion work
  • Commitment to Jumpstart’s core values: learning, social justice, community, joy, and inclusive leadership
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various locations as necessary for completion of job duties

Preferred or Ideal

  • Experience in social service, education or youth nonprofit sector and knowledge of AmeriCorps or significant service/volunteer programming and grants preferred
  • Certification in fundraising or advanced degree in relevant field of experience for the role
