JOB SUMMARY: Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the nursing and medical staff.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

• Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.

• Performs general nursing care to patients.
• Administers oral medications, IM or Subcutaneous injections as ordered by provider.
• May be able to do certain treatments or procedures after training by RN and has been monitored and passed at timed intervals.
• Examples of procedures: EKG’s, cast removals, aerosol treatments, oxygen use.
• Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatments and examinations of patients.
• Admits patients to rooms, screen patient for proper information, prepares for physical examination, maintain timely flow of patients, ensuring preferences to emergency situations.
• Assists in scheduling additional patient’s exams or procedures.
• Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
• Instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions as informed by provider, or may refer this to the triage nurse.
• Alert provider to phone messages from hospital, or other physicians, and handles appropriately.
• Employee must maintain their medical assistant certification and medication aide certification.
• May need to work extended hours, help cover lunch breaks and work Saturdays as scheduled.
• Follows correct procedures for the handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste.
• Assist other nursing personnel with performance of their duties as assigned as workload permits. Function as relief for other personnel as appropriate and to facilitate co-workers taking of time off.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
