HumanGood Community Support Center is Hiring a Vice President of Resident Services Near Duarte, CA

Under limited direction of the Senior Vice President, Affordable Housing, the Vice President of Resident Services is responsible for the overall strategic and functional direction and quality of resident service programs for the HumanGood Affordable Housing. Participates in long-range planning and coordinates the implementation of plans expanding resident services. Additionally, provides functional oversight of resident services team, developing and controlling the resident services related budgets, developing and implementing policies and procedures, participating in obtaining funds and grants, and coordinating and integrating programs with others in the organization.

  • Provides vision and leadership to the Resident Services department as a member of the Affordable Housing senior management team;
  • Participates in strategic planning and development, including setting, operationalizing, and measuring success of plans for resident services;
  • Plans and organizes workloads of overall Resident Services team, including training, motivating and evaluating team; reviews program needs and directs changes as needed; provides leadership and direction in the development of short-range and long-range plans; facilitates meetings; develops and prepares reports and recommendations; monitors and documents resident issues as required by funding sources;
  • Works with Resident Services team to ensure they are developing and/or maintaining and administering a variety of service-oriented programs and pursues funding to support such programs;
  • Manages the HumanGood Welcome Home initiative, helping our teams in the communities manage the formerly homeless populations in their communities.
  • Works in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations of Affordable Housing (and Life Plan Communities, when applicable) to ensure the operations and resident services teams feel they are working collaboratively day-to-day and on new initiatives;
  • Works in collaboration with Development team on applications for new developments, including but not limited to resident service plans and coordination with potential providers and health systems for funding;
  • Works in collaboration with Asset Management and Contracts teams to ensure that the programs resident services desires to establish work within the communities funding parameters and compliance requirements; and
  • Works with SVP of Health Care and Quality and other SVPs and VPOs of Life Plan Communities on initiatives that further enhance the lives of our residents and generating additional revenues to further advance our mission.
  • Educates staff on service availability, application procedure, resident rights, etc., as needed;
  • Establishes constructive relationships with residents, resident relatives, staff, community agencies, and volunteer organizations. Secures social services such as health, welfare, and education programs for improving senior and community standards. Establishes volunteer support programs with service organizations in the community. Forms alliances with the community at-large and promotes HumanGood to the public at-large; Works collaboratively with Life Plan Community social services representatives throughout HumanGood where applicable.
  • Develops and manages departmental budget; assures duties and responsibilities are performed within budget; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel and materials; designs and develops procedures to increase the overall effectiveness of the department;
  • Manages and oversees the services which include writing grants (with department and in conjunction with Philanthropy), forming community alliances, attending meetings, preparing budget requests, preparing reports and monitoring programs;
  • Provides quality assurance monitoring services and compliance documentation to all communities approved for quality assurance fees with for their service coordinator program;
  • Foster strong relationships between Life Plan communities and the Affordable Housing communities where applicable;
  • Initiate the reporting and policy procedures for Affordable Housing Resident Services and see to the adherence of such procedures including HUD and LIHTC requirements by all participants;
  • Audit select resident files to review to ensure that service management is appropriate and in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Provide guidance on problem-solving methods and service management practices;
  • Recommend and monitor educational opportunities regarding service management, ensuring team is carrying out necessary training and orientation of service coordinators and managers, as appropriate, and ensure the service coordinators follow training guidelines;

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field
  • 10 years of related experience including minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role providing leadership in affordable housing.
  • Experience with permanent supportive housing preferred, but not required.
  • Social Services certification preferred

Pay Range - 150-190K depending on experience and geographical location performance based bonus

This position is remote, with up to 25% travel. Candidates must be located in a state where HumanGood operates.
