IC Imagine is Hiring an Occupational Therapist Near Asheville, NC

Part time (30 hours a week), licensed, dedicated Occupational Therapist needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville.

The School Occupational Therapist, works with a diverse caseload of students from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

Duties and Responsibilites:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments to determine individualized treatment goals
  • Develop and implement customized treatment plans to address sensory processing, fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, self-care tasks, and activities of daily living 
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, caregivers, and other therapists to optimize outcomes and promote carryover skills
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Train student’s to use special equipment, if needed
  • Write IEP goals, complete data collection for progress monitoring, complete treatment notes, and progress reports and other IEP reporting documentation for assessment summaries, etc.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and MTSS problem solving processes when appropriate.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the positive school climate
  • Frequent oral and written communication with parents and families of students
  • Frequent oral and written communication with colleagues and administrators
  • Manage inventory and repair of resources and equipment
  • Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
  • Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after-school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities leading and during the Open Enrollment period.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of developmental milestones, sensory integration principles and therapeutic techniques
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
  • Strong understanding of school based occupational therapy services
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate patience and flexibility
  • Maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
  • Proficiency in ECATS preferred
  • Proficiency with GSuite

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Valid North Carolina license
  • 1-year school based therapy experience working with children and adolescents preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bending
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
