AUTOMOTIVE PARTS ASSOCIATE

To join the fastest-growing Retail & Wholesale Automotive Parts Operations in the Kansas City Area

FUNCTIONS:

Acts as principal contact between the parts department and retail/wholesale customers for the sale of parts and accessories.

The primary goals are to provide customer satisfaction and maximize dealership sales of parts and accessories.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Provide fast and courteous service to retail and wholesale customers.
  • Sell additional parts through the use of related items sales techniques.
  • Answer the telephone in accordance with dealership guidelines. Solicit orders or answer questions as appropriate. Answer inquiries promptly, courteously, and to the best of one's ability
  • Properly input lost sales into the inventory control system.
  • List and price out parts on counter tickets.
  • Provide the necessary information for special orders to the inventory control clerk if a part is not in stock.
  • Maintain the special order parts inventory in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain records of all special order parts and notify the customer who made the order.
  • Maintain a customer backorder file.
  • Treat wholesale customers in accordance with dealership policies.
  • Sell parts and accessories to wholesale customers in person, by telephone, and by other methods.
  • Write legible and complete wholesale orders by asking basic questions regarding application to identify the correct part numbers (i.e., make, model, year, usage VIN color, options, etc.).
  • Secure an agreement from wholesale customers at the time the order is taken, covering cost, time and method of delivery and method of payment.
  • Interpret and explain the parts warranty and dealership return policy to wholesale customers.
  • Get authorization from wholesale customers when price increases or transportation charges cause the original price estimates to be exceeded.
  • Inform wholesale customers when the delivery schedule cannot be met.
  • Enter all wholesale orders into the order processing and delivery system in the order in which they are received.
  • Identify orders that require special handling, such as emergency orders, will calls, special problems, incorrect parts, or NPN.
  • Follow up on the status of orders to assure that delivery will be made as promised.
  • Contact wholesale customers at last once a week to solicit additional parts business and follow up on the delivery service to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Keep the parts manager informed of all problems and potential problems involving wholesale customers?
  • Participate in conducting a perpetual inventory.
  • Help maintain parts catalogs, price schedules, and other technical information and bulletins.
  • Keep one's work area clean, free of debris, safe, and put away loose stock.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as directed by management.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Performance standards for this position are met when:

No complaints are received from customers or other departments about treatment or assistance given.

Customers and the business office can read parts information on counter tickets.

ALL deadlines and promises are kept for emergency and special ordered parts.

Proficiency in the use of parts catalogs and location of correct stocking bins.

No complaints are received from inventory control clerk, stockers, and drivers regarding legibility of wholesale part orders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
