MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
SAVANNAH CONVENTION CENTER

We are currently seeking an experienced, media savvy, creative Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team. In this position, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of day-to-day public and media relations as well as marketing initiatives designed to strengthen the image and positioning of Savannah Convention Center within the meetings and events industry and with stakeholders at the local, regional, and state level.

This position reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing and will receive guidance from the General Manager. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the General Manager and Director of Sales & Marketing to cultivate, manage, and articulate SCC’s desired brand, including messaging, brand standards, brand graphics, and all related brand assets.
  • Works with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Visit Savannah to coordinate and supervise promotional and marketing efforts on behalf of SCC.
  • Manages the development, production, and distribution of promotional and collateral materials to support SCC’s commercial rights marketing efforts.
  • Oversight of SCC’s digital assets (website and social media channels) to include content development and deployment, content strategy, monitoring and reporting, engagement, and analytics.
  • Designs, produces, and distributes internal and external SCC communications collateral, including newsletters, executive messaging, and customer and stakeholder e-blasts.
  • Develops and maintains a digital asset library inclusive of event photography and videography, SCC logos, headshots, and campus beauty shots.
  • Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing in the development and implementation of digital and print advertising campaigns and business promotion programs that support the SCC’s sales and marketing plan.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and reports on performance and effectiveness of the marketing and communications programs and recommends corrections as necessary.
  • Develops and executes thought leadership strategy featuring General Manager and SCC senior leadership; actively pursues industry awards.
  • Engages in proactive/reactive public relations activities including media monitoring, fielding incoming press queries, develop pitches, craft press releases, and effectively establish and maintain positive relationships with media, industry influencers, and key community and strategic partners for the betterment of SCC.
  • Develops and manages the marketing and communications annual budget.
  • Represents SCC in the community through volunteer activities and at industry events.
  • Facilitates customer and exhibitor feedback survey program.
  • Performs other duties, special projects and responsibilities as assigned which may or may not be directly related to job specifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES


  • Knowledge:
    Stay up to date on communication practices and digital media trends, including SEO and social media. Familiar with event terminology and proficient in Microsoft Office or similar tools for word processing, database management, and presentations. Experienced in website hosting and management. Keep abreast of industry trends and local market changes to optimize service delivery at SCC.
    • Communication: Excellent oral, written, and listening skills; strong creative, strategic, and analytical skills, including ability to facilitate, plan, and organize.
    • Flexible and Curious: Accepts and adapts to change; understands that change is a constant and necessary path for involvement and growth. Questions the status quo by asking Why?
    • Customer Focused: Dedicated to meeting expectations/requirements of internal and external customers; possess excellent people skills and a proactive attitude.

    • Must have a professional attitude and appearance.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, communications, or related field
  • Three (3) years of related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
