Shalom House is Hiring a Housing & Property Management Director Near Portland, ME

 
 

Shalom House, Inc. is seeking a Property Management Director who will join us in our mission to provide community-based mental health services and quality housing to adults living with a severe mental illness. The Property Management Director is a member of the Shalom House Director’s Team, Leadership Team and attends Board of Directors and Housing Committee meetings.

The Property Management Director is responsible for providing direction to Property Management leadership to ensure that the affordable housing and residential real estate portfolio for Shalom House Inc. and related entities are in compliance with lending/funding requirements, safety and building codes, and maintained in good repair. 

The Property Management Director supervises and works in partnership with the Property Manager who oversees all tenant occupancy matters, fiscal operations, as well as short-term maintenance and long-term capital improvements of the Shalom House, Inc. real estate portfolio. 

This position provides Agency representation and collaboration at regularly scheduled housing related meetings, as well as with DHHS, Maine State Housing Authority (Maine Housing) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) partners. 

Oversees all new affordable housing development for Agency in conjunction with outside consultants.

The Property Management Director:

  • Is a hands-on transactional leader deeply involved in daily operations, evaluating, developing and improving processes and monitoring metrics for positive performance and results
  • Is a strategic thought-partner
  • Has excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Requirements and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4-year degree in related area, business, housing, urban planning, etc.).
  • 5 to 7 years of demonstrated experience in leadership, supervision and management in a non-profit environment is preferred.
  • 5 Years of Experience with HUD funding, Maine State Housing, Rental Subsidies, and DHHS contracts, and compliance strongly preferred. This includes LIHTC projects, as well as other affordable housing development funding sources.
  • 5 Years of Experience with building maintenance and capital improvement needs.
  • 5 Years of Experience with operating budgets.
  • Knowledge and/or experience overseeing, affordable housing development.
  • High level of competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
  • Experience with people with mental illness and other disabilities preferred.

Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexibility in scheduling; one evening per month for Board meeting, external committee meetings to be determined.

Salary: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Public Health Considerations: Must obtain a yearly flu-shot. Must be up to date on MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B vaccinations unless cleared by a medical professional.
