How you will make a difference in this role:

As the LESO Inventory and Registration Specialist, you will serve as a point of contact for the Tennessee Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Program. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the requisition and transfer of Department of Defense (DOD) excess or surplus property to State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for use in law enforcement activities. You will screen program requests, which requires overseeing high dollar-valued property to include weapons, aircraft, watercraft, and tactical and commercial vehicles, as well as review and vet applications for participation. You will also liaise between the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), DOD, TN Law Enforcement Agencies, and the TN State Coordinator’s Office. This position may require some travel to accommodate program compliance reviews and possibly attend federal DOD seminars.

This position reports to the LESO Federal Program Manager. The position has an in-office work schedule located at 6500 Centennial Blvd in Nashville, with a monthly starting salary of $3,958 – $4,958 (determined by experience). Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with requisitions and transfers of Department of Defense (DOD) excess or surplus property to State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for use in law enforcement activities
  • Screen program requests, which requires overseeing high dollar-valued property to include weapons, aircraft, watercraft, and tactical and commercial vehicles, as well as review and vet applications for participation
  • Serve as a liaison between DLA, DOD, TN LEAs, and the TN State Coordinator’s Office
  • Communicate with the Local LEAs and provide training to meet DLA requirements and regulations
  • Assist State Coordinator and TN LEAs to maintain and conduct audit and oversight functions to ensure compliance with applicable Federal requirements
  • Collaborate closely with the State Coordinator to develop deadlines and projects and sets goals to be completed

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of experience providing general administrative assistant duties in the private or public sector; or four (4) years of experience providing general administrative assistant duties in the private or public sector
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at an advanced level
  • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Adaptable to change and shows creativity in problem-solving
