Florida Healthcare System is Hiring a Psychiatric/Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Near Beach, FL

We are seeking a Psychiatric/Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join our team! The Psychiatric Registered Nurse is a professional member of the team who, under the plan of treatment established by the physician, is responsible for the deliverance of skilled nursing services to patients.

Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation is based on experience.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

1. Evaluate nursing needs of patient.

2. Initiate and implement nursing case conferences.

3. Provide nursing services requiring specialized skill and/or treatment as ordered by the physician.

4. Observe and report to the physician any pertinent changes in the patient's physical or emotional condition.

5. Maintain accurate and concise written clinical records on each patient.

6. Act as a liaison between patient and physician when necessary.

7. Offer insight to the family on how to be emotionally supportive to the patient.

8. Provide counseling to the patient on a one-to-one basis.

9. Assist patient with verbalizing feelings and deal with them in an effective manner.

10. Assist patient in seeking realistic alternatives available.

11. Educate patient and family to all available community resources that may be of value to them during and after

completion of the program.

12. Collaborate with other health team personnel regarding patient's condition and progress.

13. Accepts direction, task assignment, supervision, inspection and monitoring from the Medical Director.

14. Facilitates nursing admissions ongoing patient nursing care, and nursing discharge planning.

15. Records data in a comprehensive accurate and systematic manner.

16. Indicates and completes initial nursing assessment at time of patient admissions.

17. Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.

18. Demonstrates knowledge of program policies and procedures.

19. Shares pertinent information with team as obtained from patients or family throughout program.

20. Collaborates with the medical staff to provide medical and nursing care.

21. Attends patient staffing's and flash meetings as needed.

22. Provides individual and group therapy on topics, issues and concerns relating to nursing discipline.

23. Documents client progress/regress according to established policies and procedures.

24. Assesses patients' needs to see a doctor.

25. Performs clinical nursing activities in a safe, professional manner.

26. Maintains compliance with established nursing care standards.

27. Supervises and instructs patients in medication administration.

28. Provides health education groups as scheduled by Program Director.

29. Continues with educational courses and in-services training, per policies and procedures.

30. Updates knowledge of community resources on a continuous basis.

31. Maintains CPR certification.

32. Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress.

33. Responds positively to changing situations in the work setting.

34. Ability to work as a team member.

35. Demonstrates good communication skills.

36. Performs in a professional manner and role models a positive image of mental health.

37. Reports abuse of patients' rights immediately.

38. Participates in obtaining the patient's informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as appropriate.

39. Knowledge re: Baker Act procedures.

40. Demonstrates knowledge of medication actions, side effects, and contraindications.

41. Documents groups on the appropriate form, in a legible, accurate, clear and concise manner.

42. Participates in Performance Improvement monitoring and evaluating activities.

43. Acts decisively and effectively in managing staff, patients, and other employees during emergency situation.

44. Performs other capacities as needed with scope of practice.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to work as a team member and have management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needs. Knowledge of Medicare Guidelines. Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards. Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal & Written Communication Skills. Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws. Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies. Knowledge of Workplace Violence. Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program. Knowledge of current utilized technology.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, either a two year Associate Program, Three Year Diploma Program or four year baccalaureate program.

2. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience as a staff nurse in an accredited

hospital. Must have documented practical experience in a psychiatric nursing or further education beyond basic psychology or Master’s degree in psychiatric nursing or mental health with clinical practice in mental health and psychiatric nursing.

License Certification:

  • FPMHNP, APRN-BC

Pay: $62.88 - $69.92 per hour
